echo Teen Leaders Attend State of City Address

Writer: McKinley OgdenMcKinley Ogden

🌟 Our echo Teen Leaders Show Up & Speak Up! 🌟

Last week, our echo Teen Leaders had the incredible opportunity to table and attend Durham's State of the City Address — and they walked away feeling more connected, inspired, and empowered than ever.

Some of their takeaways:

💬 "Being at the event made me feel more connected with the community in Durham."

🤝 "Tabling was an amazing (and imperative) experience for networking. I really found my voice talking to other organizations—learning more about what's available in Durham and how echo and our mission can support them."

🏙️ "I learned so much about my hometown from the perspective of a person living here, not just a kid."

This is what echo is all about — giving young leaders a platform to engage, connect, and drive impact in their own communities. Our teens aren’t just listening to conversations about the future of Durham; they’re actively shaping it.

Huge thanks to Mayor Leonardo Williams and the organizers of the State of the City Address for creating space for youth voices. And to our Teen Leaders — keep showing up, keep speaking up, and keep making waves. The future of Durham is brighter because of you. 💡🔥
